If you can't beat 'em.......

Join 'em..........Welcome to my new blog......

I've always loved writing....the whole process.....choosing the pen, choosing the paper, ok more like shopping for the pen and shopping for the paper (grin), sitting somewhere comfortable.....maybe a local coffee shop or a plaza in Portugal, a beach in the south of Spain or a bungalow in Oahu.....and just putting thoughts to paper. Before blogs was it called journaling? Or is that something else? Anyway, what I've been doing up to this point would probably be called journaling. Sometimes those writings got turned into letters addressed to friends and family, sometimes they chronicled a trip (LOVE having that to share with others and to read years later), and sometimes they were just for me.

These days I'm torn between journaling in the traditional way with my favorite pen and paper and using the more expedient way of the computer. I've used my PDA and a portable keyboard to journal on trips but I always seem to return to the pen and paper. I haven't settled on the perfect journal and often take several different pens to choose from depending on my mood. I wish I had drawing skills. I love seeing journals with sketches in them or doodles. Some of my favorite sketches and scrapbook ideas have been those of Darcy Miller who works for Martha Stewart Weddings. She does the cutest little line drawings to go with her ideas.

I guess the portability of pen and paper will win out most often. So many little things happen on trips or while you're away from a computer that the pen and paper remains the most efficient way to record the little tidbits quickly.

I love the information that people share on their blogs and how they link other people's blogs or even web sites for you to go check out. I'll figure out how to do that too.......one step at a time.

Now, just to practice including pictures, I'll add a couple of Griffin (my German Wirehaired Pointer) on his 13th birthday which was June 25th!

PC's Pantry in Boulder, CO bakes these little "birthday cakes". They're actually little meatloaves. For Griffin's last three birthdays, I've chosen the liver version. They also have salmon, chicken and a couple of other choices. If you're buying the loaf to celebrate a birthday, they include little dog cookies that are shaped like numbers. Griffin got a "one" and "three". He was so tolerant as I told him "wait, wait, wait" while I tried to get a good picture BEFORE he scarfed down his "birthday cake".

He so carefully first ate the "one" and then the "three" and then waited for a slice of the loaf. I rationed the rest of the cake at each meal over the following week. He LOVED it!!

OK.....I better stop while I'm ahead. I'll have some stamping for you soon or maybe this will be my personal site......or maybe both. Enjoy!!
